You will love again

I know you’re at the bottom right now. Feeling worthless used, broken. You never thought that it was possible to feel this much pain and you don’t know how much more you can take of it. I know you do not believe this right now but you can handle this… you’re stronger than you think you are.

It will get worse before it gets better. There will be a perpetual sadness that you feel in the pit of your stomach and it won’t go away for a very long time. There will be constant reminders of the happiest of moments that you shared together. And that will hurt.

The free-fall from Cloud nine is terrifying and you will pound your head on lows you didn’t know were possible. You will be driven mad by the weight on your chest and the emptiness that plagues your heart. Your world will not make sense for a long time. You will lose yourself in the midst of trying to find yourself again.

But over time, you will stop hurting so severely. The first thing you think about in the morning will not be your heartbreak and the last thing you think about before you drift off to sleep will not be the person who broke you. This is the day you realize you’re no longer heartbroken.

But what I want you to know right now is that after the dark days of heartbreak overcome your being, you will love again.

And this time it will be perfect. This person will give you their heart in a way you didn't think was possible. The love you will experience will be different from the last time. In a glorious way.

That future you were either too afraid to bring up because you feared the unknown or unrequited feelings, will be an open discussion with this new love. In fact the future will be the only thing you can see. They want a future with you more than they want to breathe.

All of your little quirks and subtle personality traits will not only be appreciated but adored by this new love. They will love the sound of your laugh, spending every second of their time trying to make you produce that beautiful sound. The way your head tilts when you’re listening to someone intently, the freckle on your neck you’ve always hated, the obsession you have with making sure your bed is made perfectly every morning: all things this person will notice and love about you.

This love will make the all of the times you cried seem meaningless and insignificant. With this person, it’s real and it’s everything you have ever wanted.

Your heart will flutter at the sound of their names and your eyes will sparkle with the twinkle of their love.

Don’t worry about never finding love again, because people like you cannot remain empty and broken forever. Love will find a way to pump through your veins and flutter through your stomach once more. Only this time it’ll be permanent.

So when the cycle of tears seems unending, and your world has been reduced to a pile of rubble and ash, know that someone will come along who will make all of this pain seem irrelevant.

With this new love, the past will be important, but not overbearing. They will respect where you have been because it helped pave your way to them. You will never forget the pain you have felt, and they will respect that because they may have been just as hurt at one point in time. And if not, they will love you enough to understand.

Just know that all the pain you have experienced will never lose the place in your head, but it will lose its place in your heart. Because when you love again, your heart will not have room for anything other than that.
